STAMFORD DEMOCRATIC PARTY ENDORSES RICHARD BLUMENTHAL FOR U.S. SENATE, DAN MALLOY FOR GOVERNOR AND JIM HIMES FOR CONGRESS
April 22, 2010 At a meeting of the Stamford Democratic City Committee, the Committee unanimously endorsed three candidates last night, Richard Blumenthal, candidate for the United States Senate, Dan Malloy, candidate for Connecticut Governor, and Jim Himes, candidate for the United States Congress, Fourth C.D.

Richard Blumenthal addresses the Stamford
Democrats, October 2009.
Ellen Camhi, Chairwoman of the Committee spoke about the excitement the Stamford Democrats have about Dan Malloy’s candidacy: “As our Mayor, Dan turned Stamford into a role model for all New England cities. He brought jobs and new industries here, revitalized our downtown, reduced crime and built affordable housing. The Committee is very enthusiastic about his campaign to become Governor and we unanimously endorsed his candidacy.”
The Committee also endorsed Richard Blumenthal’s candidacy to replace Senator Christopher Dodd in the United States Senate. “Dick started his political career here in Stamford, and we’re proud of what he has accomplished as our Attorney General,” said Camhi. His record of fighting for consumers, for protection of the environment and for civil rights is proof of what he will accomplish as a U.S. Senator.”
Jim Himes, who was elected to Congress in 2008, was also endorsed by the Committee, as he makes his first bid for re-election to represent Fairfield County’s Fourth C.D. Camhi said, “Jim has been a leader for health care reform, regulation of the financial industry and for revitalization of our economy. He has put the interests of Stamford and Fairfield County ahead of the special interests and the Stamford Democrats are eager to campaign to make sure he is sent back to Washington.”

The Stamford Democrats made these endorsements as they plan for Party nominating conventions, which are scheduled in May, with the Democratic State Convention being held in Hartford May 21-22. The Stamford Democrats will send 52 delegates to that convention.
